Shifting, Redefining Success and Then What?

Have you ever had to steer a big ‘ol boat (figuratively) in a new direction? The image of a large barge comes to mind – that even needs a little tugboat out in front to help maneuver the harbor.

It’s been almost two years since the first seeds had been planted to shift the boat that holds my business offerings. And truthfully – maybe the whispers came well before that. The shift was about dedicating more time and energy to reaching more people by speaking to bigger audiences. I wanted to take the depth of all I have learned in working one-on-one with clients to help MORE people.

This shift was a process in that I had to address my inner critics about it, claim it and in essence learn about a whole different type of business and offering. Like magic, soon after I claimed it, the shift became reality – but it absolutely came inch-by-inch.

This lead to having to redefine what success looks like on my business, and in my day-to-day. Unlearning and re-learning is REAL my friends. To start looking at different success metrics AND getting comfortable with it is a PROCESS. I’m still working through all that to be honest.

But here’s the thing about it – inch by inch – you gain actual YARDAGE! It can feel micro, until you take a step back and say – you know what – THIS IS HUGE.

In the past 18 months, I have had 25+ speaking engagements! Some on large stages, some in small rooms, and others online. This isn’t including my 20+ podcast episodes – where I clearly have a mic in front of me, which may be the hardest engagements because I have to connect energetically to those listening ears.

I share this with you to say, those big dreams, those big shifts that you set an intention for – the magic doesn’t happen overnight, but when you do the work to clear your old stories and claim what you DO want … big things can happen!

In honor of this, I want to share with you some of the more recent examples of my NEW success metrics with the takeaways that I think will help you on your path of career transformation.

Association for Talent Development, International Conference & Expo

Discover the Golden Thread of Your Personal Brand (5.20.24)

I led the virtual session with my revamped talk and it was FIRE! I applied to this opportunity last August and was giving the opportunity to host this session virtually without having any idea what to expect. 155 people indicated interest and 72 people showed up live.

KEY LESSON: Prepare the same way you would as if one person were in the room or 1,000. What matters is that you are in alignment with honoring your purpose.

Forbes Business Council | Public Speaking

Silencing Your Inner Critic: Embracing Public Speaking with Confidence (5.15.24)

Hosted by Bobbie Carlton, with fellow speaker Katy Kaumeyer

This conversation was all about helping business professionals boldly pursue their speaking ambitions by showing them the obstacle (inner critic) that may be getting in their way.

KEY LESSON: It’s more powerful to view others in your space as co-conspirators in the pursuit of the change, versus competition.

You Are The Magic (Podcast Interview)

The TRUTH about Your Inner Critic (5.24.24)

Partnering with my friend not only on her podcast, but also within her Big Life Magic community through a workshop series to spread the word about our Inner Critics was not just powerful, but also fun.

KEY LESSON: Whatever NEW adventure you are pursuing, your close circle will likely be the source of smoke before the wildfire ignites.

COMING SOON… July 2024

Aspirations Women’s Conference with Raymond James Financial Services

This is going to be another one-two combo deal giving two keynote talks (Inner Critics and Personal Branding). More to come, and in the meantime will share the journey real-time on Instagram.

KEY LESSON: There is no magic bullet in managing your brand; consistency and authenticity are the inch-by-inch wins.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT!

Check out this recent episode on The Unlock Lab podcast Sharing Our Stories, Creating New Spaces with guest and founder of Publish Your Purpose, Jenn T. Grace.

It’s such a real, raw and important conversation that truly connects the dots on career shifts, telling our story and redefining success. We covered a lot of ground including; corporate culture challenges, belonging, book writing and pruning your relationships.

If you read my last newsletter, I was planning on sending you a shorter email this time around.  What the hell? Clearly THAT didn’t happen. ???? You know what they say about best laid plans.

I hope you see that all of what I shared is about this process:

1. claim the shift

2. redefine success

3. celebrate the inches

4. step back to honor the yards gained and the lessons learned

It’s gonna be a busy next few weeks, but I still plan on popping in your inbox in early and late June to help you celebrate your mid-year and the start of summer. In the meantime have an AWESOME long weekend for those of you in the states! What are you putting on the BBQ??

If you, or someone you know is looking for energizing, unique and impactful content for their conference, team or private gathering, please hit reply, or feel free to forward this email. My SHIFT to speaking is gathering momentum and it’s because people say my name in rooms that I’m not it. So THANK YOU!!
