It took me years to realize it was ok to want more for myself. As if somehow wanting more was counter to being grateful for what I did have. I think especially for women – we aren’t always encouraged to keep striving. And I think that can be especially true for first generation immigrants – when parents discourage taking risks in the pursuit of bigger dreams (and paychecks!).
Guilt can keep us from even admitting to ourselves – we still want more. But look, we deserve so much more. More spots as keynote speakers, more spots in the C-suite, more boardroom seats, more salary, more second homes…you catch my drift.
In my Bad Women podcast interview by Brittany Brave, we talked about a lot of things, but as we came to the end, the big message I shared was that it’s OKAY, to want more for yourself. It’s not selfish, it’s not the opposite of gratitude, but rather, it is our right.
Some highlights from this podcast are:
- How do you define success?
- Celebrate every small win – they actually aren’t small at all
- Acceptance is a way into self-care
- You always have choices
- Guilt-free abundance
