Chronicles of a Corporate Career: Comparison Is Not Okay

Once, my boss looked at me square in the eye and told me I should be more like HER…my colleague. She was pretty much everything I was not.

You know what I did then? I stayed and I stayed there FAR TOO LONG. And I died a little bit each day. And I thought it was me. I thought there was something I could do. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

So believe me when I say…

When you show up being who you are,
and you don’t feel seen,
or heard…
it’s not your fault,
it’s ok to walk away,
and find the place that embraces you for who you are.

So often we are driven by optics, ego, fear of failure. When we walk away from things that no longer serve us, that is called LEARNING and HONORING our needs.

We DESERVE to be supported and welcomed.
We DESERVE to be embraced and encouraged.
We DESERVE to be in spaces where we can unapologetically be ourselves.

You DO NOT have to ‘pay your dues’ in toxic workplaces.
You DO NOT have to ‘stick it out’ to hit that timeline mark for your resume.
You DO NOT have to suffer in silence.

You are not wrong and it is not your fault if you are in a place that doesn’t love you for exactly who you are.

How do you want to take your power back?
