January often comes with mixed emotions. Cue: I get so emotional baby, every time I think of you.
There’s pressure to feel brand new, pressure to feel optimistic, pressure to start new habits, leave the past behind and on and on.
Pile on newly elected officials starting their jobs in the US, fires in LA, and our own personal journeys, and I imagine some days you may feel like you don’t know which was is up or down. It’s also entirely possible that you have clarity in the path ahead for 2025, and you’re grounding in and taking steps to stay true to your vision. Wherever you are on the spectrum of all of this – trust that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
Personally, I have entered this year going slow and staying steady so I can be super intentional about the actions I choose to take – and some of that is even non-action. I also acknowledge that for me there are some endings that are still closing out, beginnings that have already taken shape AND there is momentum that is continuing under the surface from the months and years prior to this moment.
Now is not the time to shame ourselves for the truth of how we feel and what we’re experiencing in our inner world.
And in fact, our inner world is a beautiful place to focus. Getting swept away in the external is not what serves us – awareness is great, but overconsumption can be damaging. The more you understand what is happening in your internal world and take time to show up in your places and spaces intentionally, the more grounded you will be and the more prepared you will be to handle what comes your way.
In my first podcast episode of The Unlock Lab this year, I provide more depth into endings and beginnings. One of the things I talk about is moving away from ‘why me’ line of questions to ‘what now’ as a way to feel more empowered about whatever is going on in your life. Tune in here.

Reminder – In 2025 I will be posting 2-3 episodes per month on Tuesdays. I will let you know when the drop in a special email, so you don’t miss out! To receive these, be sure to sign up for my newsletter here.
Ep. 46 How to Build Strong Relationships (Part 1 of 3)
In this episode of The Unlock Lab, I introduce the idea of building intentional relationships, a topic that’s been a major theme throughout my life and work. Relationships shape how we feel about ourselves, if we feel a sense of support how, and reflect how we move through our personal and professional journeys. I dig into why setting intentions for your relationships is essential and how doing an honest assessment of the people in your life can bring clarity. Whether it’s about creating stronger bonds or letting go of what no longer serves you, I share practical tips and personal insights to help you align your relationships with your goals for the year.
Ep. 45 When the World is On Fire, What Now?
In this first episode of 2025, I reflect on what it means to navigate life when it feels like everything is burning down around you. Inspired by the fires in Los Angeles, I talk about the bigger themes of loss, grief, and how we can reclaim our power in the face of life’s hardest moments.
FROM THE ARCHIVES:
Last year I recorded an episode about where to start when unexpected things happen in our life. Given how this new year has started (especially in LA) I wanted to share again here. Take a listen or share with someone who needs it.
Ep. 6 When Your World Gets Rocked
What do you do when life blows up in your face? These are tough moments to handle and in this episode I share some tools to add to your toolbox as well as perspective on how these can be huge opportunities to uplevel your life.
If you have been impacted by the LA fires, know my heart is with you and I am here if you need support. If you are working on finding your grounding in the new year, I’m cheering you on to honor what you need, to trust you are exactly where you are meant to be, and to hold steady in whatever storms you may be enduring.
I support you and am rooting for you no matter how you identify, wherever you come from, no matter your status of any kind. My fellow HUMAN – you got this, and I got you.
Cheers to the climb,
Big hugs,
Tosca
